Feral Hog Trap Being Installed 11-17-23

ATTENTION! A single corral trap with bait will be placed on Community Property today near the gravel road close to what is believed to be the entry point of the hogs into the neighborhood. This location is visible from the Pavilion. The trap will be monitored by cameras 24 hours/day with a gate that is remotely controlled. The trap will remain in place for 30 days and we are hopeful that the trap will have the secondary benefit of mitigating further damage to private property. In order for this initiative to be successful, compliance with the following guidelines IS MANDATORY.

- FERAL HOGS ARE DANGEROUS. STAY AWAY FROM THE TRAP!

- DO NOT ENTER, CLIMB ON, OR APPROACH THE TRAP AT ANY TIME DURING THE DAY OR NIGHT. PARENTS, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO INSURE CHILDREN ABIDE BY THIS REQUIREMENT. STAY AWAY FROM THE TRAP!

- SITUATIONS MAY ARISE WHERE HOGS OR OTHER ANIMALS MAY BE PRESENT IN THE TRAP (WITH THE GATE POSSIBLY OPEN). UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD ANY RESIDENT APPROACH THIS TRAP WITH ANIMALS PRESENT OR ATTEMPT TO FEED ANY ANIMAL IN THE TRAP. STAY AWAY FROM THE TRAP!

- KEEP PETS AWAY FROM THE TRAP.

Aside from reasons of safety, staying away from the trap is important because hogs have an excellent sense of smell. If these hogs notice any unfamiliar scent, then the hogs will likely stay away from the trap and our efforts will have been wasted.

As has been experienced, hogs are nocturnal animals. These hogs are approaching the neighborhood for one reason - food. As a tip, if your property has any trees that are nut bearing, then please consider raking up the nuts and removing them. This simple action could dissuade these animals from approaching your property - maybe.
